Technology Acts and how the law changes with the times

As technology improves there are many rules and regulations that have to be put in place to protect everybody involved. One act that has been put into place is called the Do-Not-Call Implementation Act. Another is called the Children’s Internet Protection Act.
While sitting at home spending quiet time with the family the phone rings. Once answered it is discovered that there is a person on the other end trying to sell something not wanted or are not interested in. The Do-Not-Call Implementation Act was made to help protect consumers from dealing with these unwanted phone calls. “The Do-Not-Call Implementation Act was passed by the United States Congress in 2003 to help protect people from getting unwanted phone calls from telemarketers” (Do-Not-Call Implementation Act Law & Legal Definition, n.d. para. 1). “The bill was sponsored by Representatives Billy Tauzin and John Dingell and signed into law by President George W. Bush on March 11, 2003” (Do-Not-Call Implementation Act Law & Legal Definition, n.d. para. 1). The act authorizes the Federal Trade Commission to enforce and implement the Do Not Call registry or the Do Not Call list. The Do-Not-Call Implementation Act was made because of the amount of consumer complaints to the Federal Trade Commission about the amount of unwanted telemarketing calls. Consumers just want to be left alone at home without unwanted telemarketing phone calls.
While picking the children up from school and asking him or her how his or her day was, he or she says that he or she saw something bad pop-up on the computer screen they were working on in the library. “The Children’s Internet Protection Act was passed by Congress in 2000. It is to protect the concerns with children’s access to harmful and obscene content from the Internet while on computers at school” (Children’s Internet Protection Act, n.d. para. 2). “This act helps to block and filter internet access to things that are harmful to minors, obscene, and child pornography for computers that are used by young people in schools” (Children’s Internet Protection Act, n.d. para. 2). Through this act schools can receive a discount on their Internet as long as they have the correct blocks and filter set up and on at all times when students are using the Internet in the library.
As technology continually changes so do the laws made to protect our family. There are always ways that people can do bad things to other people so because of this there have to be laws put into place even if it is after something bad has happened. The Internet ...
