The main purpose of the research is to establish how leadership can be used to distinguish a firm from the rest in terms of competitive advantage. The elements of the sample were conveniently sampled. Secondary data were initially gathered. After being trained, university students were used to collect primary data. Respondents in the same firm were given questionnaires at the same time to avoid peer influence. The purpose of the research was adequately explained to the respondents. It was noted that leadership is instrumental in the creation of a firm’s competitive advantage, thus bearing responsibility for the success or failure of a firm. The implication of the study is that leadership must obtain buy in from employees if it is to be effective. Arrogance and lack of being exemplary were noted to be the main reasons leading to the demise of the firm

ABSTRACT
