I have been asked to submit a PESTEL analysis of the hotel industry in the UK. The PESTEL analysis is a form of environmental analysis in which environmental forces are classified as political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legislative. (P .Wetherley & D. Otter, 2008, the business environment). On this report I am going to mention three categories from the PESTEL analysis, these are the technological, the environmental and the social.
Technology
The use of technology in the Tune hotel will help the hotel to keep up to date with technological advances to help satisfy their customersí needs and wants. As you can see, the rooms in the Tune hotel are not very spacious, so the use of flat screen TVís are essential as it will not take a lot of space compared to the older TV version. Having said that the rooms are not spacious, it means that the furniture in the rooms will be limited, which means that customers will not have a lot of room to unpack, and hang up their clothes.
Having the opportunity to use wireless internet in your laptop whilst in your room is a good idea of keeping customers happy as customers will not have to go to the down to the lobby to be able to get some internet access or sometimes even go the nearest bar/restaurant. CCTV cameras are one of the most popular security technologies there is at the moment, many of the customer will feel safer and more secure knowing that the hotel has security cameras in use 24 hours. Because of the internet customers can now easily book online, this will be saving money by the hotel as they do not have to pay the travel agencies. The tune hotel are mainly focusing to accommodate business people or people who want to rest for the night, so the Tune hotel has beds and pillows which are as comfortable as they can get, as their customers are mainly looking for a good night rest. Air conditioning is essential as customers could not like to be nor to hot or too cold. Electronic keys have also been added to the Tune hotel as it helps decrease security threats through the hotel.
Many hotels are operating on technology to enhance fresh air conditioning system pumping a high amount of oxygen into rooms. The Tamworth Premier Inn will use ground-source heat pumps to heat and cool rooms, grey water recycling to run the toilets and solar panels which will provide hot water for 1,000 baths.
