Pilgrimage to Lourdes

This year, along with the other 5 million people, I visited Lourdes, a small town found in the foothills of Pyrenees. Lourdes is well known for the events that happened in 1858. During my time there, I came across many old folk with twisted tails, but they all fitted together. A wise old man named Bruce told me this story... “What happened was this, a young woman named Bernadette Soubirous, was out with her sisters gathering firewood. Her sisters went ahead of her, and she suddenly heard sounds, as if a storm was coming. She looked across the stream to see a woman in white, whom did not speak, but graced her with the sign of the cross. She gradually saw her a lot more, over a two week period, and told her that a chapel should be built on that spot. Bernadette was confused on who this woman was, so she asked her. The name given was “Immaculate Conception”, the phrase used to describe Mary. Hardly any folk believed her stories, but in time, many of them turned around their views, and her chapel was built” This story had already touched me, but I felt there was more. Bruce had told me that section of the story, but after that, he turned his head away in shame. I had a feeling this wasn’t the ending.
