Elizabeth receives 3 proposals but only accepts one. An exlanation of both Darcy and Elizabeth and how their personalities prevent each other from admitting their true fellings.

Elizabeth receives three proposals of marriage in “Pride and Prejudice”. Why does she reject the first two and accept the third?

Jane Austin’s novel “Pride and Prejudice” tells a story of misconceptions, social standards, arrogance and of how true love can conquer them all. We witness a journey of self-discovery in the form Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. They both have unique opinions and acquired tastes, but by exploring each others’ lifestyles, they are humbled by the other’s capability to look past the exterior and accept what’s inside.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”
