Introduction: what is human cloning?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_cloning
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human being; this is not the same as multiple births or human cell and tissue reproduction. Human cloning is generally referred to as artificial cloning, but natural cloning can occur in the form of identical twins or triplets.

The most common and discussed types of human cloning: therapeutic cloning and reproductive. Therapeutic cloning involves cloning cells from an adult for its uses in medicine, but reproductive cloning involves making cloned humans reproductive cloning has never performed and is illegal in most countries.

a third type of cloning called replacement cloning is a debatable possibility, and would be a mix of therapeutic and reproductive cloning. Replacement cloning would involve the replacement of an extensively damaged or failing body through cloning followed by whole or part brain transplant.

Advantages of human cloning
There are many positive benefits to human cloning for example being able to clone and replace body parts, there are endless possibilities to human cloning from replacing vital organs to breast enhancement. http://www.humancloning.org/benefits.php

Scientists could also use human cloning to cure many illness and diseases, for example they may learn how to switch cells on and off through cloning resulting in curing cancer.
Infertility, with cloning infertile couples could have children.
Disadvantages of human cloning
There are many disadvantages of human cloning; many consider it to be a medical breakthrough making copies of another person and their personality, but in reality there is no method of cloning which can replace a person’s personality as a personality is formed from life expericenes. There are also medical disadvantages to human cloning for example health risk from a mutation of genes resulting in an abnormal baby.

Dolly the sheep

Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell. she was born 5 July 1996 and lived for six years .
The cell used as the donor for the cloning of Dolly was taken from a mammary gland, and the production of a healthy clone therefore proved that a cell taken from a specific part of the body could recreate a whole individual.
This is a graph of how Dolly was created

Dolly was euthanized because of lung disease and severe arthritis, its thought that Dolly’s death has no link with her being a clone as her illness was common in sheep.
