Public health is the science and art of protecting and improving the health and communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles and research for disease and injury prevention.
Public health helps improve the health and well being of people in local communities and across our nation public health helps who are less fortunate to archive healthier lifestyles.

We will see about the public health programs. We can divide in three ways. Those are 1.Deliver health services to the people. 2. Healthy behavior. 3. Promote healthy environment.
The dramatic achievements of Public Health in the 20th century have improved our quality of life an increase in life expectancy, worldwide reduction in infant and child mortality, and the elimination or reduction of many communicable diseases. Public health is not just a subject for research, on a university. It is an ever-present part of our daily lives. The air we breathe, the foods we eat, the water we drink and even the roads we drive are all safer as a result of public health programs. The advancements attributed to the public health system are significant, resulting in countless improvements that protect our health and preserve our quality of life. From vaccine administration programs for our children to enhanced services for our elderly, public health professionals are hard at work in communities large and small. Public health addresses a spectrum of physical, mental and social factors that influence the well-being of our citizens and our communities. Given such a broad scope, the challenges in public health can be immense. Major challenges such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and stroke are perennial health threats that continue to be addressed. Other challenges such as environmental protection, health disparities, avian influenza and even bioterrorism are among the urgent priorities addressed by public health professionals.
Public health programs show everyone about the facts about vaccines and immunization. Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious viral disease, which mainly affects children under five. The virus attacks the nervous system and is transmitted through contaminated food, water and feces. One in two-hundred infections lead to irreversible paralysis, usually in the legs. Among those paralyzed, 5 per cent to 10 per cent die when their breathing muscles become immobilized. Polio cannot be cured and can only be prevented by immunization.
Finally we can see about the three ways of public health programs importance. Health services, healthy behavior and healthy environment these three are the main thing is the public health. So the public health programs help people develop the skills needed to change behavior. In addition to knowing what they need to do to be healthier, people need to know how to change their behaviors? Finally the public health programs mobilizing individuals, families, communities, and society at large to create environments where people can be successful in their efforts to live healthier lives. Today, most governments recognize the importance of public health programs in reducing the incidence of disease, disability, and the effects of aging, although public health generally receives significantly less government funding compared with medicine. In recent years, public health programs providing vaccinations have made incredible strides in promoting health, including the eradication of smallpox, a disease that plagued humanity for thousands of years.
