Comparison of a Mac vs a PC

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of a Mac

There are Mac people and then there are others who feel Windows is the way to go, and for the price and lack of programing they are right. For those that have Macs, their only real claim to fame is that they do not get viruses and that the graphics are much better. There is no other reason for buying a Mac PC because you cannot do as much as you can with a Windows PC. In my opinion, buying a Mac is no more than a status symbol for all the yuppies.
As for what makes a Mac different from a PC in the area of graphic design, it comes down to graphic designers being one of the few groups of users who truly need to multitask. I'm talking about user multitasking, not computer multitasking, there is a difference. In Windows, most applications are designed to take over the interface of the system (rooted apps within full screen windows), and with Widows 7 this has almost completely becomes a moot point because now you can do the same with most software. When working on an image in Photoshop in Windows, you have the image window inside a root window which takes over the screen. Now this is fine if the only application you use is Photoshop, but for most graphic designers, Photoshop is one of many tools being used. When the root window takes over the screen, it will be isolated from the other apps that they are working with. On Macs, applications take up only what is actually needed by them. In this way you can see other applications in the background and as well as the desktop, which many people use for holding items that they will end up dropping into a piece of work. You can't drag-n-drop from the desktop if you can't even see the desktop. The ability to drag-n-drop is a major advantage in work flow for users who multitask.
One of things Mac users state that they like is that they can simply power up their computers and use them right out of the box. Also until recently, you could not run a Mac OS on a PC and so it was a better option if you wanted to run both. And then there is the fact that with a Mac you are going to be compatible with your iPhone, iPad and even your iBook.
I frequently hear the same arguments regarding Mac versus PC. Arguments like, "Mac's are so easy," and "PC's are ...
