Tesco is one of the largest supermarkets in UK. There are 923 stores and has 240000 people working in it. Tesco provides the countries with different services and products which include non-food business and internet shopping. It is also focused over customer satisfaction and creating demand for their customers. The largest food retailer in UK is Tesco which comprises of 702 stores. The market share increases by the policy of cheap rates, providing better value and choices to the customers. Tesco has gained its place in top internet business for grocery.
I choose Tesco because it is one of the biggest and largest growing stores throughout the different countries and increasing continuously in the field of online service to provide the customer with easy to shop by sitting at any place. Tesco operates in different countries that are United Kingdom, Malaysia, Hungary, The Republic of Ireland and many other places around the world .Tesco has collaborated with Microsoft Cooperation to launch video viewing at home so that the customers can be attracted towards it. Tesco overtook the place of Sainsbury in 1995 by becoming the UK’s largest supermarkets. It focuses over the customer’s needs.
Tesco was formed in 1919 during World War I. At that time Cohen opened a tiny stall and then invested £30 for his small grocery in East End of London which led him to begin his career in a market field. He started to give different branches for wholesale purpose. In 1932, he established “Tesco Stores limited”. During the next eight years the company grew quickly by opening 100 small stores in different areas of London. Cohen thought of opening a self service store at Tesco but due to World War II it could not happen but his dream came true in 1947 when he opened a self service store in Hertfordshire and in St. Albans. But the St. Albans store was closed in 1948 because it was not able to grab the interest of the British people but eventually it reopened after one year again. Tesco expanded gradually across the United Kingdom. The growth was measured by having small grocery chains, fresh foods etc. Tesco has opened nearly about 900 superstores and supermarkets by giving them motivation of buy more and pay less.
