Tesco is a global grocery and general merchandise retailer. In the world, it is third largest retailer measured by revenues and the second largest measured by profits. The first Tesco store in opened in 1929 in Burnt Oak, Middlesex. But It is founded In 1919 in East London by Jack Cohen. In Feb 2010, itís have 5,380 stores.
The knowledge and information needs to the company.
Every company wants to make profit. How they can make more profit that information needed to the company. The knowledge and information needs to the Tesco.
Helping to plan current activities
Current situation in the market Tesco and every company need to know the current situation in the market. They know about what is happening in the market. They know about how the market is developing and situation in the politics and economy.
Market is consists of 4ps. Product, price, place, promotion. These 4ps develop your market that are used for satisfy to the customer as well as company.
Secondly, a company need to know about customerís needs and wants. It is very important that company have k knowledge about what customer wants and how they satisfy with their product. For example Tesco is grocery retailer. Some customers like easy cook food. If Tesco provide the easy cook food to the customers then those customers (that persons who have no more time such as businesswomen to make food) satisfy with Tesco. So Tesco can make more profit.

Company needs information and knowledge for fighting with competition. Tesco have so many competitors. For example Sainsbury, Asda, mark spencer, Safeway, Morrison and so on. What type of information need a company to fighting with competitors.
